At Spectrum Socials, our mission is to create opportunities for children with autism and special needs to build meaningful connections and engage in positive social interactions. By gathering insights from parents, we carefully match like-minded children based on their communication level, age, and interests. We put on thoughtfully planned social events for small groups, where therapists provide support to facilitate positive interactions and encourage the development of social skills.
Friendships and social connections are so important for everyone’s well-being, and autistic children are no different—they want friends too! But they often face unique challenges that can make building those connections tricky, leading to feelings of isolation and loneliness. Many parents also find it hard to find opportunities for their children to socialise outside of school. After working with autistic children for many years, I’ve seen this struggle firsthand, and I’m passionate about helping families overcome it.
This initiative is all about creating fun, welcoming spaces where children can make friends, build social skills, and feel part of a community. Experienced therapists will support kids through the process, preparing them before the event, introducing the group online first, and embedding social skill training throughout. Through bringing kids and families together for joyful shared experiences, we can help reduce isolation, boost confidence, and create meaningful, lasting connections.
Kids will meet first, then have an hour jumping and playing together, followed by pizza and hot dogs in a party room. Therapists will facilitate games and positive interactions while parent/ carers chat amongst themselves.
Small groups will play in a special room where movement and touch bring the walls to life with thrilling games and challenges. Therapists will support while parent/ carers have a cup of coffee and chat. Following the 'Gamebox', the group will go next door to Nando's for some delicious chicken!
Meet up in a London park for a walk, play some games, chat and have a picnic. Therapists will facilitate age appropriate games to keep everyone entertained. Parents can bring their kids favourite food for a picnic on the grass.
We will aim to respond to any questions promptly. If you are keen to participate we will ask you to complete a brief form so we can gather information about your child, enabling us to create well-suited matches.
Stay posted on any upcoming events!
